SUMMARY:Beyond Title IX Supportive Measures (A Three-Part Mini-Webinar Series)
DESCRIPTION:How 504 Plans and IEPs Can Support Survivors’ Needs in K-12 Schools\nFollowing an incident of sexual assault or dating violence, young survivors often struggle at school – academically, socially, and behaviorally. Title IX supportive measures, while helpful for immediate relief, may not provide the long-term and intensive support many struggling survivors need at school. This 3-part webinar mini-series for civil attorneys and legal advocates will explore the disability-based services and protections that may be available to survivors in K-12 schools. We will cover: how to qualify and the barriers to qualifying for a 504 Plan and an IEP; the school evaluation processes for 504 Plans and IEPs; the range of benefits and services 504 Plans and IEPs can provide; the differences between 504 Plans and IEPs (including how to know which one better supports a survivor’s needs); and practical tips for advocates and attorneys to use when requesting, obtaining, maintaining, and enforcing 504 Plans and IEPs on behalf of survivors.\nWe are delivering this mini-series in shorter 45-minute sessions so that it is easier to fit into your schedule and easier to digest what can be dense legal information. Parts 1, 2 & 3 will be delivered on June 23, July 7 & July 14, respectively. Register for the 3-part series here.
