Interested in Volunteering at Shining Star?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at VRLC’s annual event! The Shining Star Celebration is the single most important fundraiser of the year for VRLC.

We are requesting all event volunteers arrive at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter by 5:00 pm on October 1, 2026. Please plan to be at the venue until 9:00 pm.

Volunteer positions available are:

  • Event Set-Up: placing programs on seats for the speaking program, placing name tags at registration, helping to assemble and arrange mystery boxes, setting up payment processors, and other miscellaneous tasks
    Please note that volunteers for Event Set-Up will need to arrive prior to 5:00 pm
  • Greeting: welcoming guests, directing them toward coat check and to registration, and assisting with any accessibility needs
  • Registration: welcoming guests, helping them find their name tags, directing them to the cocktail hour, and processing payments for any on-site ticket sales
  • Mystery Box Sales: selling Mystery Boxes, processing payments (using a Square credit card reader), and redeeming prizes
  • Silent Auction Bidding: talk up the (online) Silent Auction to attendees
  • VIP Monitor: ensure that access to the small VIP area is limited to awardees, high-level donors, Board members, and staff
  • Ushering: showing awardees and high-level donors to their reserved seats
