Description: A total body workout, Yoga Sculpt classes are set to energizing music and designed to tone and sculpt every major muscle group. This class complements your regular yoga practice while boosting your metabolism and pushing your strength and flexibility to new heights. Free weights are added to the sequence, creating resistance and intensifying each pose. Strength-training exercises such as squats, lunges, bicep curls, and tricep curls are incorporated to build lean muscle mass.

“As someone with an auto-immune disease, I’ve struggled at times to feel strong. My life, whether it was as a college athlete, a program director, or a middle school teacher, has often been interrupted by factors far out of my control. Yoga, particularly yoga sculpt, was (and continues to be) the thing that helps me feel strong, even when my body is weak. Yoga taught me that there is sometimes no goal or destination, even when we think there must be, and that showing your body grace, care, and support is sometimes the most empowering thing you can do. Practicing yoga taught me there’s strength in choice and power in options, a lesson I take with me each day as I step into my classroom, relationships with others, and in the way that I look at the world.”

Erica is currently a health and wellness teacher in Boston Public Schools. She holds a B.A. from Colby College, an M.Ed. from Boston University, and is pursuing an Ed.S. from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She teaches at Radiant Yoga in South Boston.  Off the mat, she is happiest being outside, spending time with friends and family, and trying new recipes and restaurants.
